Seeing to Eye to Eye
Plain Jane has left the building; it’s now time to explore your more creative side when it comes your eye makeup. As we all know, the eyes play a very important role when trying to glam up your look. They are the focal point of the face, the windows to the SOLE.
It is very important when choosing eye makeup that you are aware of the effects it can have on your face overall. Eye shadows can create an illusion of wide, bright eyes and long lashes, or the opposite. For example, light shades highlight the eye making them appear wider, while dark colors give a smokier and more mysterious effect.
When applying eyeshadow, start with a trio palette, which will allow you to create what is called a “sunrise” effect. Simply sweep the lightest shade, known as your base color, over the entire eye area from the lash to the brow. Once the base color is applied, apply the medium shade on the lower section of your lid. Next, you want to slightly blend the two colors so there is no line of separation between the two.
Finally, with your darker color, apply a thin coat along the lash line and at the corner of the eye. This emphasizes the crease of the eye and the brow area, creating a more defined and sexy eye. And don’t forget to finish off the look with a coat or two of your favorite mascara.
And remember, you do not always have to match your eyshadow with your attire—be bold and adventurous!
